Alpine Freight Railway project ("AlpFRail")

One of the activities of the BMVIT is its involvement, along with 20 other European partners, in the "AlpFRail project" (Alpine Freight Railway project ), which receives funding from the European Union's aid programme Interreg IIIB.

The aim of the project is the cross-border organisation of rail freight transport in the Alps and increased switching of heavy traffic on to the railway. To that end railway networks in the Alpine region will be sufficiently well integrated that they guarantee optimum movement of freight, encompassing the Mediterranean ports also.
